Dinesh Sah, the CEO of ChargEdge, is also CEO of another company, in stealth mode but with technology that will change our world very soon. ChargEdge was the missing part of that puzzle. So, what can be revealed here is that an unusual technological synergy and a meeting of minds rapidly coalesced. The story leading up to this historic moment sprawls three decades. What still seems yesterday, a curious friendship started to develop. The fateful year: 1988. Place: Kanjur Marg, Bombay (now Mumbai). Dinesh Sah and Sanjaya were both wide-eyed new hires, joining on the very same day, assigned to the very same team, at the Central Research and Development (R&D) Center of what was India’s largest privately owned (though publicly traded) electrical company, Crompton Greaves Limited (CGL), now simply “Crompton”. Both under a person who influenced them immensely for decades to come: Dr GT Murthy. Sanjaya had paid tribute to "Doc" in 2015 in an interview on the EDN network. More later!
Sanjaya Maniktala, the CTO of ChargEdge, is the author of eight well-known books on power electronics (including the only one on Power-over-Ethernet!). The Chinese translation of his "A-Z 2ed." achieved an all-time, historic, unparalleled approval rating of 99.6% after over 3000 reviews on Dangdang. He has worked professionally in several countries/continents (India, Singapore, Germany and USA), for companies like Siemens AG, National Semiconductor (now TI), Freescale Semiconductor (now NXP), IDT (now Renesas), Power Integrations, Fairchild Semi (now On Semi) etc. He created the concept "current ripple ratio" in conventional power conversion, and unveiled and exploited "hidden in plain sight" scaling laws for power conversion, including (resonant) LLC converters, in "Design and Optimization 2nd ed", also the subject of his highest-viewed live seminar at an IEEE meet in 2019.....In his words: when you have mastered the physics of resonance and the art of switching power supplies, the natural result is ChargEdge! He is its founder and primary inventor.
Ted Tewksbury is the Chairman of the Advisory Board of ChargEdge. Prior, he served as CEO of Integrated Device Technology (IDT) where he built the wireless power business from inception to industry leader. Prior, Ted was President and COO of AMI Semiconductor, Managing Director for Maxim Integrated Products and Director at IBM Microelectronics. He is also a Ph.D in EE from MIT.
